Abstract

A convergent synthesis of linear α-(1→5)-, β-(1→2)-linked octaarabinofuranoside related to the terminal fragment of mycobacterial polysaccharides was performed using a [6+2] scheme. The octaarabinofuranoside was obtained as a 4-(2-azidoethoxy)phenyl glycoside which can be further converted to neoglycoconjugates that are important for the development of diagnostic tools.
