Abstract

In this communication we report a convenient method for the preparation of amines via the catalyst-free reduction of Schiff bases with environment-friendly, cheap, and readily available sodium hypophosphite. The reaction is carried out at moderate heating (120 °C) in DMSO and can be performed on aromatic and aliphatic Schiff bases giving target amines in 36–91% yields.
