Abstract

Hydrogenation of organic cyclic carbonates using Pd catalysts based on different porous aromatic frameworks was investigated. Under the selected conditions (250 °C, 40 atm of H2), hydrodecarbonylation and hydrodecarboxylation of carbonates occur, with alcohols and diols forming as the main reaction products. The products of complete hydrogenation of ethylene carbonate on the Pd-PAF-30-NH2-pre catalyst were ethanol (yield of 48%), as well as mono-, di- , and triethylene glycols (yields of 28, 17, and 7%, respectively).
