Abstract

A selective ‘one-pot’ method has been developed for the synthesis of derivatives of neo oxo carboxylic acids with two different remote functional groups from linear acid chlorides, carbon monoxide, and two different nucleophiles. The transformation is promoted by the superelectrophilic system CBr4·2AlBr3. No other systems initiate such transformations.
