Abstract

A novel method for the synthesis of β-tropolone derivatives by coupling 3,5-di(tert-butyl)-1,2-benzoquinone 1 with 2-methylquinolines 2 was developed, and a series of 2-(quinolin-2’-yl)-5,7-di(tert-butyl)-1,3-tropolones 3 were prepared.
