Abstract
It has been shown for the first time that under the action of light within the absorption band of dimethyl ether radical cations in freon matrices [λmax ≅ 436 nm, ϵmax ≅ (2.5±0.5)×103 M–1 cm–1], the radical cations decay due to charge transfer to freon molecules, whereas in an SF6 matrix they undergo deprotonation with quantum yields Φ ≅ (4–15)×10–2 and Φ ≅ (2–6)×10–4, respectively, at 77 K.
