Abstract
An anomalous chemical mechanism of aluminium dissolution has been experimentally determined in electrolytes containing HCI based on proton-donor solvents (methanol, ethanol, propanol, water), and this mechanism has been explained by a new theoretical approach based on the comparison of the work function of aluminium with the electron affinity of oxidizing complexes.
