Abstract

Thermolysis of (OC)₅ReC≡CPh in refluxing toluene yields the binuclear complex Re₂(CO)₇(C₂Ph)₄ 2, characterized by an X-ray diffraction study; 2 contains a rheniacyclopentadiene moiety, formed by coupling of four PhC≡C groups, two of which undergo additional annelation producing the 1-phenylnaphthalene system.
