Abstract

New 4-methoxy-1,8-naphthalimide derivative containing a salicylideneamino receptor group at the imide nitrogen atom demonstrated selective fluorescent response to Zn2+ cations due to the formation of 1: 2 and 2: 1 ligand–metal complexes.
