Abstract

A new donor–acceptor oligomer with two terminal electron-withdrawing phenyldicyanovinyl groups attached to the electron-donating triphenylamine core via π-conjugated bithiophene spacers has been synthesized and compared with its analogues containing one and three phenyldicyanovinyl groups. Influence of the number of electron-withdrawing substituents on the solubility, thermal, optical, electrochemical and photovoltaic properties of these compounds has been revealed.
