Abstract

Comb-shaped liquid crystalline stereoregular cyclolinear methylsiloxane copolymers containing a lactic terminal group at the 4,4-bis- phenylene fragment were synthesized. The polymesomorphism of a smectic SmC* phase is influenced by the tacticity of the main chain, as found by X-ray analysis and DSC.
